The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (“OECD“) published a report on its study of SME and Entrepreneurship Policy in Viet Nam in 2021.
Briefly, we set out some key highlights about the characteristics and performance of SMEs and entrepreneurship in Vietnam below:
✔️Vietnamese SMEs appear to be quite innovative
✔️SMEs are adequately involved in national exports, but most of them are foreign-owned
✔️Mid-sized manufacturing firms show strong managerial skills
✔️Entrepreneurial activity and business ownership are very common
We also set out some key highlights about governance of SME and entrepreneurship in Viet Nam below:
📌SMEs have received increasing attention in national legislation
📌Inter-ministerial coordination needs to be strengthened
📌There is adequate policy monitoring but little policy evaluation
